How To Increase The Life Of Your Artificial Turf

Artificial turf offers a number of benefits over natural grass, including resistance to diseases and pests. However, fake grass does require maintenance to keep it in good condition and extend its life. If you can’t perform the maintenance below, artificial turf may not be the best product for your yard or outdoor space.

Caring For Your Artificial Turf

First, you want to eliminate any pet waste. Allow the solids to dry completely before removing them. Then, rinse with cold water. If you notice any smells, add a mild soap to clean your turf. Avoid harsh chemicals like bleach when cleaning your lawn.

Not all stains come from pets, however. People can track mud and dirt or spill things on your fake lawn. Like with pet messes, you should clean up any debris. Blot at spots or stains with a damp washcloth like you would with a carpet. Then, rinse with warm water and a few drops of dish soap or mild detergent. Persistent stains might require you to repeat this process.

Does your turf have a sticky spot? Freeze them with dry ice or an aerosol refrigerant, then scrape the substance from your turf.
